What to expect at our Little Italy gathering

We are so excited for our Sunday gatherings together in Little Italy, and we would love it if you would join us — whether you have been with our church for years or are a newcomer interested in who we are and what we do!

For those of you who are newcomers, we recognize showing up for one of our gatherings might feel like an uncomfortable or daunting experience, so we thought we’d help you to get to know us a little bit.

We are absolutely in love with Christ, and his gospel, and are passionate about his transforming power not only within our community but for all people. Our Little Italy group is mainly made up of young adults, many of whom are students at UIC just down the street from where we will gather. We gather on Sundays at 4:00pm in Arrigo Park west of the Football and Soccer field.

During our outdoor service, you can expect

  • A small group of 10-20 of us
  • Each service to be about 80 minutes
  • Interactive and responsive liturgies for our service from the Book of Common Prayer
  • The liturgy will be compiled in a service guide prior to the service and distributed digitally for those present
  • Singing/Worship
  • The Hearing of the Word & Preaching
  • Communion

What you should plan to bring

  • A chair or blanket to sit on if you don’t want to sit on the grass.
  • A phone, or another mobile device, to access the electronic service guide and song lyrics

Safety Precautions

To ensure our community remains safe, we ask that you come with a face mask (or other mouth and nose covering) and keep it on until you have settled in your spot for the service. We will be marking spaces 10 feet apart for you to sit in alone or as a household group, and we also encourage you to frequently wash or sanitize your hands while we are together. Additionally, at any point during or after the service, when people will be within 6 feet of others, we will be asking them to put their masks on. If you are sick or are experiencing COVID-like symptoms, we kindly ask that you remain at home.

While conducting our service outside significantly reduces the risk of transmission, we encourage all people to take the appropriate precautions laid out by the CDC and the City of Chicago.

Everyone is more than welcome! If you have any questions, we would be glad to get in contact with you.
The peace of Christ be with you!
