Join our Near South Gathering

Sunday at 9:30am

What to expect at our Near South gathering

It’s a church service in a park, so expect a low-pressure, relaxed environment with a small group of people who will be excited to meet you and seek God together. Our goal is to meet together in a COVID-safe way to worship and be in community, simple as that. We gather every Sunday morning at 9:30am in “Harry W. Pearce Memorial Grove”, better known as the grassy area on UIC’s campus at the corner of Taylor Street and Morgan Street.

During our outdoor service, you can expect

  • A community of 15-25 friends ready to welcome you
  • Each service to be around 75 minutes
  • Engaging biblically-based messages
  • Scripture reading and songs of worship
  • A time of prayer
  • Communion

What you should plan to bring

  • A chair or blanket to sit on
  • Your phone to access our service guide and song lyrics
  • A packed lunch, if you’d like to stay for our post-gathering picnic!

Safety Precautions

To ensure our community remains safe, we will mark spaces 10 feet apart for groups of families to sit and we encourage you to frequently wash or sanitize your hands while we are together. Furthermore, we recommend each person to bring a face mask or other mouth and nose covering to wear when closer than 6 feet to another person not in your family. While conducting our service outside significantly reduces the risk of transmission, we encourage all people to take the appropriate precautions laid out by the CDC and the City of Chicago.

Everyone is welcome! If you feel comfortable, please join us.
